SOLAR POWER

Solar Applications:

The amount of solar power generated in Winnipeg is miniscule, though Winnipeg is Canada’s second sunniest city. The largest application in the city is at Red River College on Princess Ave. Their installation consists of 133 modules that produces 50 kW of power a day. Other installations include:

  • An interpretive centre at Fort Whyte as well as a small solar powered weather station.
  • A LED sign at the airport that is run by a 150 watt module.
  • Mountain Equipment Co-op’s solar module running pumps for their rooftop garden.
  • A University of Manitoba bus shelter that is heated and lit by a solar panel on the roof.
  • Moveable highway road signs.
