Introduction

Manitoba Hydro was established in 1961. It is the electric power and natural gas utility for the province of Manitoba, and is the 4th largest electrical utility in Canada. Manitoba Hydro provides power for more than 250,000 natural gas customers and more than 500,000 electric power customers. Most of the electrical energy is provided by hydroelectric power, so the utility has low and stable electricity rates (1).
